Melanie, or Mel as she prefers to be called, began her career at ACTS-Broussard in 2019. She is a native of Lafayette, graduating in 2004 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Athletic Training. Mel began her physical therapy career working with Beneth at Iberia Sports and Rehabilitation. While at ISR, Mel was a Physical Therapy Technician, Office Coordinator and Aquatics Instructor. Inspired by all of the knowledge she gained at ISR, Mel decided it was time to return to school and further her education. She graduated from Our Lady of the Lake College in 2008, where she earned her Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assisting. While at the Lake, she was the recipient of the Marilyn Gossman Award in Physical Therapist Assisting for exemplary academic and clinical performance.
After graduating, Mel worked in the outpatient therapy setting treating orthopedic, geriatric, and spine patients at clinics in Covington, Baton Rouge and Prairieville, before returning home to Lafayette. She is excited to be at ACTS-Broussard where she is once again working with Beneth and assisting her in a variety of treatments, including spine and orthopedic patients through Pilates based physical therapy.
